Facebook bans mother for posting photos of baby with birth defect

Ok, So this is not about Fibromyalgia but it is about our freedom to deceide who has control over us. After reading this, you will agree that it is not Facebooks decision to remove pictures that were not public but for family and friends to see. What will happen as they continue this typw of censureship on a social network? If I publish pictures of my self, will they consider my deformed body and my 10″ scar  down my chest as offensive for my family to see? Continue reading

It’s now early February, Patricia just came home to our house, although she could have used an other week or two in a rehab, no one was paying. Maybe it’s just our nervousness and she is ok. I don’t know, she has a halo on her head, a feeding tube hanging out of her stomach and a patch over one eye… Looks fine to me. Continue reading

Men are also fibromyalgia patients

WASHINGTON, Aug. 21 (UPI) — The chronic pain syndrome fibromyalgia, which most often occurs in women, can also affect men — not only as patients, but as caregivers, U.S. researchers say.

“Although 10 percent to 20 percent of fibromyalgia patients are males, few scientific studies have been done in this population,” Lynne Matallana of the National Fibromyalgia Association says in a statement. Continue reading

Men with Fibromyalgia

For generations women had a tough time convincing doctors to take them seriously for many medical conditions, especially Fibromyalgia. Women have been called hysterical and told to curtail their active imaginations. However, men with Fibromyalgia are Now, don’t get me wrong, women will also push through the pain and fatigue to take care of their jobs, family, and home, but they will also seek medical attention much earlier in the process. Gender roles may not be the only reason though since
insomnia manifests itself earlier in women. Ron also pointed out another difference, “Men are also more difficult to diagnose, since the physical muscle structure of men is different, they often don’t have pain in the 18 pressure points that doctors often use to diagnose fibromyalgia.” Of course, as the syndrome progresses, men and women quickly become equal.

So, whether you are a man or a woman, you need to go to the doctor, get diagnosed, and stop suffering in silence. As more people are diagnosed, the more research the pharmaceutical companies are willing to finance. Continue reading

A letter from the Knights of Fibromyalgia

What I have just described is a very common Fibromyalgia flare up. Yet they only look at you as if you have a screw loose. They do not even check to see if it is Fibromyalgia. They look at your heart and other physical problems that could cause this pain but find nothing. They could perform a simple pressure test to eliminate or confirm Fibromyalgia but you must first navigate a maze of other tests. Continue reading
